Abortion is deeply disturbing. The disposal of fetal remains is more so. However, pro-lifers emphasize that these babies are so discarded by society that they are denied any kind of recognition even after death.  it is an act of kindness to honor the dead, to give them a proper burial, to mourn them. In the Catholic Church, for example, on of the Works of Mercy is the dignified burial or cremation of the dead. Many pro-life groups have attempted to honor the memories of the babies killed by burying their remains. This section of the website stands as a chronicle of those efforts.

In theory, these children's bodies should be sent to a pathology lab to be dissected and studied. This is done in order to make sure all parts of the baby and placenta have been removed from the mother's body.  Any parts left behind can cause a life-threatening infection. The remains are then burned or thrown out with medical waste.

Abortion clinics are also notorious for cutting costs.  There have been many documented cases of clinics neglecting to send the bodies to pathologists and simply discarding them in the trash.
