How could a clinic get this bad in the era of legalized, supposedly safe, abortion?

Well, interestingly enough, many pro-choice groups such as Planned Parenthood oppose legislation that would hold abortion clinics up to standard. In many states, veterinary clinics have more safety regulations than abortion clinics.  The position of PP and other pro-choice groups is that regulating the safety of abortion clinics and requiring them to be regularly inspected might close down existing facilities.  In this case, they are putting the availability of abortion ahead of its safety, and, basically, sacrificing women's health on the altar of "choice."
